Anyone else frustrated by the new way to mute your phone?

So, I reached out to Samsung through the beta feedback and finally got a response. Turns out, in the latest implementation, holding the volume down button no longer mutes your phone, it just sets the ringtone to vibrate. If you actually want to mute your phone now, you have to swipe down to your quick panel and tap the ringtone icon to put it on mute.

Honestly… who thought this was a good idea? It makes something that used to be quick, simple, and discreet, into a multi-step hassle. There are plenty of times like in a conference, a movie, or even while I'm out, where I need to silence my phone immediately, and this new process only makes that harder and inconvenient.

It wasn’t broken. Why "fix" it?

Curious if anyone else as annoyed by this change as I am? Would love to hear what you all think. Adding extra steps to mute our phones is completely unnecessary. If we don’t speak up now, there’s a good chance this will end up being permanent in the final update.

The reason why I like Samsung and android because to me, it is easier to get a lot of things. This is some iOS nonsense. With that being said, iOS is getting away from many settings that are hard to get to, and are very similar to what android has been for years.. So why is Samsung trying to copy the old iOS style that Apple doesn't even do anymore. Keep the shortcuts! Stop making us do unnecessary extra steps!

It's not a big deal. It's just one swipe down and a press, which is faster than clicking the volume down twelve times. I'm okay with it.

I disagree, it IS a big deal! If anything, both options should be available. But having to turn on the screen, unlock the phone, swipe down, and tap a button just to mute it is unnecessarily clunky, especially when a simple hold-press of a physical button does it instantly. They need to bring it back!

Oh no. That's a big no then. With the screen off, you will accidentally put your phone on mute, and that's not good at all.
I totally disagree with you.

My opinion but I also agree it's not a big deal, plus if your unlocking your phone to need to do this then your adding unnecessary steps. If there's a time or place that you always need to put your phone on mute then add a routine to silence your device, I have this set up on mine and have zero issues.

Couldn't agree more. I urge everyone to submit feedback. I did after the first beta and again after beta 3. This is such a silly and useless change just for the sake of change. There's literally no reason this should have been altered.
