The requirement to enter a PIN code when shutting down from the home screen has apparently been fixed with the beta 3 release

That is bad. PIN was for your safety, so nobody can shutdown if you loose your phone, so you can track it.

I don't think it's "fixed". It's a security feature that's supposed to be there. I think it's absence is a bug

On the contrary, it's inclusion in the first beta was a bug. It was never there previously. A couple of folks may want the pin for shutdown from the home screen, but I believe that most of us do not.

If the phone is unlocked already there is no reason for a pin to shut it down or restart. I'm glad they removed it.
