Phone Services Using GPS Constantly

The system app phone services constantly uses GPS location every few minutes. Does anyone know why? It is draining my battery when I have location turned on. I attached a screenshot you can see how often it looks for location. I don't think it should be looking for location that often and what even for?

In the phone app remove phone location permission.

In the phone app I went to permissions like you see in the screenshot here but you cannot change any settings here. GPS or location isn't even listed.

Don't go into the phone's settings. Go the the device settingd/apps then go to phone. Open that, then permissions and turn off location.

You're not in the phone app. In main settings. Go to apps then phone and then select do not allow for location.

My phone accesses my location (it's always google play services) every single time I turn my screen on. Not even unlock the phone, just turn the screen on and it accesses location. I dont know why, but it does and im not sure why google play services needs my location just for me to check the time on my lock screen, but here we are.

I'm talking about phone services it's a system app. Not the phone app.

I know I'm a bit late here, but im not noticing this on my device. If you go into permissions for phone services, it doesnt allow me to change them... so phone services is accessing location every minute or two.

I leave my location off unless I use an app that specifically needs it. If people aren't using apps that do I don't see the point in leaving it on. I promise your phone will work without it as I barely ever turn mine on. When I turn my phone on it tries to access location even though I have it set to only when using the app and I have it on very few apps and I close my apps before I power cycle so make it make sense. Why does it every single time I power my phone on? And it's not just a beta problem it always happens to me I just wanted to share my experience to help anyone else and maybe someone knows why this happens? Especially if you don't have any maps or GPS apps on your phone?
