Screen Protector Issue

My phone is an S20fe 5G, which I bought at Verizon in Jan. 2022. The sales person recommended that I buy a Zagg tempered glass screen protector. There were none in the store so I ordered one online & installed it.  Since I didn't know at the time that the model came with a screen protector, I apparently installed it over the factory one. I have never been able to use biometrics on my phone.

Since then, I have had to replace the tempered glass protector.  I don't think taking it off removed the original factory one, because I still can't use biometrics.  Now I read on Samsung's website that you should not put a glass protector on that phone.  Has anyone put a tempered glass screen protector on this model and been able to use biometrics?  Which screen protector would you recommend (glass or other)?

Thanks for any info you can provide on this issue.

Is the device updated? What does biometrics say where it isn't working?

Thanks for your reply.  My phone is updated.  I just get a message that it can't register my fingerprint.

I usually buy a Duraglass screen protector at Walmart they do sell screen protectors for the S20 FE and they are tempered glass screen protectors so Duraglass tempered glass screen protectors are available at Walmart and they should have them

Thank you for your reply.  Are you able to use  fingerprint identification on your phone?

If at all possible for your model and current software, it may help to enable the touch sensitivity toggle under the Display settings. It's available on most (if not all) Galaxy related phone models to my knowledge, and I know that it's helped with my own biometrics and screen protector issues in the past.

I had already turned the touch sensitivity on, but it didn't fix my issue.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I don't know what I haven't tried, short of taking my screen protector off to see if that's the problem.  I sent a support request to Zagg yesterday.  I will post what they say.

Look on Amazon for a screen protector that specifically supports fingerprint biometrics. I use Glassdome, which is pretty expensive. But works, intermittently on my S20 Ultra. To be fair, biometrics is finicky on that model. Anyway, another tip is to register the same finger two separate times. It's supposed to help with unlocking the phone.
