Questions
With the good lock screen, can I have it so it stays on? Or is it programmed to go off after 5 seconds?

Why would you want the lock screen on longer than 5 seconds?

It can be especially useful if you have some very info-packed widgets on lock screen (like email widget showing your inbox)

Yup, and it is a tradeoff – not necessarily a good one, but it exists. I personally wouldn't do it, but some people use their phones mostly in home or simply value convenience over privacy. This also applies well to tablets.
I am not defending the decision or saying it is strictly rational, just saying it could make sense for some ppl and some devices. Kinda similar to how you can show your notification previews as cards on a lock screen, although that sounds less terrible on paper.
It is a demonstration of why this request could exist, not why it should exist.
