I just tested that and my screen brightness didn't change at all. I thought adaptive brightness might have been your problem but I enabled that too and still no problems. Try going into Settings, Apps and look for Camera force stop it and then clear the storage cache and try again. Also tap and hold on the flip icon which is used to switch between front and rear camera and see if that stops it.
