Chat features!

Has the beta version affected the chat features in Google messages? 

It keeps saying "setting up ... trying to verify your number", and I don't remember if it was like that before the beta update!!

It has. Try exiting Google Messages then turn off Sim Card Manager from the settings. Wait for a few moments then turn it back on and open Google Messages.
