Alternative Calendars Support

Samsung should make alternative calendar systems (such as Hijri, Buddhist, Hebrew, Persian, and Chinese lunar calendars) available for system display on devices, rather than locking calendars to specific regions based on firmware.

As of now, having an alternative calendar already exists on some Samsung devices sold in certain countries, but it makes little sense to make it tied to the firmware instead of being a simple setting.

This is not a niche setting. Entire national user bases would benefit from it, whether for religious observance, cultural relevance, or personal preference. It shouldn't be the case that users don't have access simply because of where their device was purchased or registered.

Rather than tying this to region or carrier, it would be great if Samsung added a simple toggle under Settings > General Management > Date and time, letting any user select their preferred calendar system to display instead of the Gregorian calendar across the lock screen, status bar, and Calendar app (or alongside it, as seen in some older OneUI versions). This would be a small change from an engineering standpoint since the underlying support already exists, but it would make a meaningful difference for users. who currently have to rely on third-party apps just to see dates in their own calendar system.

If we want to be very very frictionless and low effort about it, add it as a clock widget option and don't bother yourself with UI support across all system interfaces.

There are currently options like this, but it would be great if they implemented more. I'm stuck using google calendar specifically for this reason. 1783354284905.jpg

Thanks for pointing that out.
Weirdly enough, I seem to have many more options.

However, in general I wished they could make it part of the system instead of just the calendar app, and not lock it if they do based on region, and more options doesn't really make the user experience any less simple. Google does it well.

I don't know what exactly is happening. For me, I use the normal gregorian calendar to an extent, and use the alternare calendar in relation to my phone less, so I need it as a secondary calendar.
I actually prefer google's calendar a bit, but it's likely I'd start using samsung's if they added this kind of support.
