App Drawer Default Sort

The app drawer, by default, should be alphabetical. I noticed that people don't see the option icon. I don't know if that's already been changed. When Samsung changed it to custom, we were already using Smart Switch. If it has, I apologize. But that would also mean that customers who came after the change may still not know. Maybe they should get a pop-up to point at the options menu. But, if it hasn't already been changed, in the future that should be the default. Google says it hasn't, but they're iffy at times.

You can easily have alphabetical in custom if you want to without manually sorting.

In vertcal take every app and put it in one folder. The easiest way to do this, take the first 2 apps and start a folder by dragging one on top of the other. Open folder, and tap on the plus, add all apps. After you add all the apps press done. Now you will have a folder with pages. Now the fun begins.

Go to the 3 dots, go to sort, press custom. Next, delete the folder.

That wasn't my point about this suggestion. You can just click the three dots on the search bar and make it alphabetical. People don't see the three dot icon.1751687173018.jpg1751687913824.jpg

How do you know people do not see the three vertical dots (option icon)? Also the OP is bit confusing as if the three dots (icon?) never existed when it has been there going back numerous UI iterations, to then somehow some change being possibly made to already using to smart switch which has what to do with that function.

The way I know is because I consume a lot of tech content - SammyGuru, SamMobile, Sammy Fans, Android Police , Android Authority, Wired, Verge, CNET., PhoneArena, etc. I watch Mrwhosetheboss, MKBHD, Flossy Carter, and some random content creators here and there. I have for years. Its kind of a hobby. Also, I read comments on videos and articles, I'm on subreddits about One UI, and I read customer reviews. I have participated in numerous beta tests. I also personally know six other Galaxy users. I've watched a few YouTube videos about people who switched for a few months and decided to switch permanently. They keep saying that they wish the app drawer was in alphabetical order. One guy said, "I don't know why Samsung chose to not put it in alphabetical order like Google." I've paid attention to this, and there are a lot of people who miss options specifically under the three dots. I've seen a lot of people who don't know you can put the app drawer in alphabetical order, specifically. Every time I tell someone that they had to click the three dots, they say "Oh. I didn't even see that.", "What three dots?", "I thought that was a design." One time someone told me that "It didn't look like anything important would be in it." I asked him why and all could say was Idk.

Why I mentioned Smart Switch is because, back in the day, the app drawer was in alphabetical order. I've been a customer since the S1. So mine has just always been in alphabetical order because Smart Switch carried my settings over for over a decade. It was more of an aside, to the moderator, to put my relationship to this suggestion into context.

Smart switch has nothing to do with the vertical ellipsis being on the side of the apps drawer search bar. The whole OP is confusing and disjointed to meaning anything regarding AO.

Regardless if your read tech, that's a lot of sources you point to regarding people not seeing the icon and no citations to those comments. Seeing the ellipsis and not knowing what the function is of it, does not mean people did not see it.

I honestly don't see an issue, one can choose AO or custom and under that, arrange the icons as they please. I think simply suggesting AO as default would have been enough if that is your want as a particular setting/anesthetic.

I don't know where you're getting that I said anything about the side. When I wrote the OP, I was speaking to the moderator. It seems disjointed because the Smart Switch comment was an aside, as in a digression.

I'm sorry it was confusing. I wrote it as if I was talking to the moderator. My first sentences were just me saying, "Sorry if I'm suggesting this and it was already changed. I've always had mine in alphabetical order." It was just me writing it conversationally to the moderator.

I actually do not like it. Taking swipes to get to the apps, when I can just scroll up/down and that is faster since they are already in AO. But to each their own and whatever they like in preferences. Also, after adding a new app, it then needs to be arranged to the correct page in AO.

Having said that, if one wants to go back and forth between AO and Custom in the settings, the AO will remain either way after using your method.

If you're responding to the person with the first comment, I think they think that's the only way to put it in alphabetical order. My suggestion is actually in response to an earlier suggestion that they posted. It was a tip for how to put it in alphabetical order. I did comment on that suggestion to tell them to just click the three dots. Someone else commented that their method was a good tip. That's one of the reasons why I said some customers missed it.
