SuggestionsAs many of you know already, the system for auto restarting has been moved from scheduling to whenever the phone feels like. This can be since it's nearly impossible to know when your phone might reboot which could lead to critical information being lost because the phone doesn't show certain notifications until unlocked for the first time. This was such a weird decision and just takes another another means of control away from the user.
Why not have the best of both worlds and have the option to have either manual or auto restart. That way the new feature can be implemented the way Samsung wants it, and if the user needs more granular control over when their phone restarts, they have it.
I know this has been posted many times already, but this is another one to raise more visibility.

I agree. I submitted the same request. Bring back the old way so we can schedule the day to restart instead of the random approach. At least by scheduling the day you can plan accordingly.
You can turn this off. Go to Battery and device care, 3 dots top right, select automation, select auto optimization, then turn off restart when needed.
Solves the issue but defeats the purpose of auto restart.

The original comment is not entirely true. Yes, the option to set up one's own time to initiate an automatic restart has been removed. I'm not going judge whether or not one wants it back or not and for what reasons.
But the automatic restart now implemented is specific to not restarting unless the phone is not being used. So, if one has an app running or some other applications being used or open, it will not restart.
I restart my phone on my own. If I wanted it on a specific time, I would have the phone alert me to that.

But that's why it's an issue. I don't want to have to think about restarting my phone, I just used to have it set up for Saturday at 3am. That way I knew I would not have the potential for any alarms possibly getting messed up and the chance of something critical happening while the phone is still locked is low.
I get that they rolled auto optimization in with it, but that whole system should be defined by the user so they can choose when it's most convenient.

I get that part, that is why I mentioned I am not going to decide the preferences of other users using previously implemented functions. Having said that, my other point covered part of what was originally stated as not true. When claiming the phone could shut down while performing/using a function.
If the phone actually restarted regardless of whether or not the phone is being used, that would be more than a problem. But the automatic restart is specific in not doing that.
