Set text color on lock screen

So, I was testing out some of the lock screen customization options and noticed the auto reverse text color. I click it on and put transparency to 100% thinking it would switch to black text considering my wallpaper is fairly light. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything and it stays white. Why not just give you the option to

 permanently change it to black or white texts?
