Solving the issue of "Slow Updates"

There's a reason I put it in "", it's because Samsungs updates are feature packed and often times many flagships must wait to get their turn to play with new features. It may be slow, but it's one massive update.

An easy fix would be adopt Feature Drops, similar to Google, keep the Beta going for those who want to try the features early and have them report bugs they encounter (as usual).

Here's a excerpt from my own X Post. (@LAFadhel)

"Samsung must mimic Googleā€™s ā€œFeature Dropā€. This would allow Samsung to rollout One UI 7 a lot faster. We would get the Look and Feel of One UI 7, the important updates from Android 15 [Vulkan as the main API as an Example], and most importantly as the year progresses, our devices would feel fresh.

Taking a look at the Galaxy S24/23/22/21, if we got stable around the Galaxy S25 Series release. We have the Important Android 15 Changes, One UI 7ā€™s new Emotive Look, and Live Notifications + Now Bar.

It would be a Superior outcome vs what we have today.

Samsung could adopt the Feature Drop for the rest of the features like AI, Nearby Devices, Now Brief, Camera LOG, etc.

Samsung could keep the Beta Going just for these Features."

I want to see the best from Samsung and am doing my best to bring up suggestions that are truly possible.

"Slow is Fast. Fast is Slow." Fast Update, Gradual Release of Features.

Samsung is in a bit of a Catch 22 with One UI.

Samsung is working more closely with Google than ever at the same time they are pushing One UI to be more distinct from stock Android and the Pixel line.

As I see it, there are only a few ways Samsung devices could get TRULY timely updates on par with Apple and Google.

1) They could separate One UI from Android and build it from the ground up (not going to happen)
2) They could abandon One UI altogether and push an essentially stock experience on their hardware (not going to happen)
3) They could further integrate with Google and strike a deal to be the sole manufacturer of pixel devices. (Still unlikely, but intriguing to say the least)

Sure, incremental feature releases would help prevent massive ongoing delays... but as long as Samsung has to wait for Google's Android releases and build One UI on top of them, Sammy is always going to be second banana when it comes to software updates.

I've considered all of those possibilities funny enough, the only direction that works and benefits both parties is a similar approach to feature drop.

It would accelerate getting Android versions to their users, and time to polish features.

Samsung has a continuity and consistent issue, the Galaxy S24 Cameras are great and require software to make em even better. The same solutions that a fellow creator on X figured out, @WVisionCreator, that enhances the. S24 Ultra experience. It was applied directly onto the Galaxy S25 series.

If Samsung can nail a Software and Hardware Cohesion+ Consistency. It would be a lot better. I'm curious, do you have an X account? I'd be eager to give you a follow.

I had twitter/X at one point in time. I stepped away from social media years ago for the sake of my mental health. I may return at some point, but for now, I prefer forums like this where I won't get sucked into algorithmic feeds.

I get it. I got sucked in to a garbage algorithm where I kept seeing server updates, I stepped back because I was wasting my energy on posts that don't affect the outcome of the Beta but just make people angry

I just post what I believe to be correct and share my analysis. It's good to see another rational tech individual here.

Hello,

Thank you all for such thoughtful and forward-looking feedback. Youā€™ve raised some excellent points that highlight the complexities of balancing innovation, collaboration with Google, and maintaining a distinct One UI identity.

We completely understand the desire for a more streamlined update processā€”particularly with the idea of adopting a "Feature Drop"-style model. This would allow for quicker delivery of major Android updates (like the new frameworks and visual changes), while still providing time to polish additional features and release them incrementally. Itā€™s a practical approach that many users would likely appreciate.

We also acknowledge the broader strategic tension youā€™ve identified: Samsung is indeed striving to offer a unique software experience while working closely with the Android platform, and that sometimes introduces challenges when aligning release schedules. Your suggestions on continuity, consistency, and cohesion between hardware and software are exactly the kind of feedback that drives meaningful innovation.

We've shared this discussion with our internal teams. While we canā€™t promise immediate changes, your ideas are valuable and help shape how we think about evolving One UI and the update process moving forward.

Thanks again for your passion and for being part of this beta journey with us.

Regards,
One UI Beta Team

I hope this is taken with heavy consideration. It would allow for a Superior timeline for One UI 8.
