The beta section exists to a) avoid cluttering up the main feed with info about the beta, b) to prevent premature leaks, and c) to allow the beta moderators and developers to readily access the feedback absent general "noise" to be able to make improvements quickly and get the bugs out.

Oh, I know that. That still does not mean they should not read the instructions and the agreement terms. Besides any commentary, whether in the main forum or the beta forum, is actually feedback.

You likely got the stable version update of 8.5 rather than a beta if you have the S25, since it's rolling out now. I believe the beta they are discussing now is the 9.0 beta. if you did not sign up for a beta, you are not in a beta. Joining a beta is a conscious act that requires acceptance of terms and actual download of the beta software and everything that goes with that. Users who sign up are told specifically to post all comments in the beta section and only those who are in the beta have access to that section.

You can leave the beta and get your old layout back and then you can enjoy it for another 6 months to a year, or you can stay in and post your objections and issues in the beta forum and help them improve it. The final product may bear little resemblance to the starting point.

If the good lock features that don't work for you are the ones you want, then I would suggest not participating in the betas. It may be 2026, but the whole reason for betas is to perfect the interface before release. Good Lock's modules are add on features, and it's best to concentrate on the core first and the add ons after.

Keep screen on while viewing is dependent on the camera having a clear, unobstructed view of your eye movements. It could be affected by ambient lighting, reflections in eyeglasses or other conditions that may interfere with the camera. If none of those conditions apply, put in an error report immediately after the condition is replicated. Then, until it gets sorted out, download Good Lock and the Display Assistant module. In that module set the app you use to keep the screen on for 10 minutes (max time) and add the "keep screen on for 30 minutes" button to the quick panel. Using the QP button to keep the screen on for 30 minutes is sufficient for most uses, but, if the screen goes off if you are using it for more than 30 minutes, you can just hit the button again for another 30 minutes. You can deactivate the action at any time, by either tapping the QP button again, or hitting the side button to turn the screen off, whichever you find more convenient. This is a workaround until it get fixed. However, the module is quite useful for keeping the phone screen active for 10 minutes (enough to navigate a voice menu), or 30 if you just like looking at your call screen.

That doesn't really solve the issue about having an opportunity to get into a beta just because Samsung made a mistake. By the time they correct it, the beta may very well have ended or be full.

I have never had an issue with the feature. I think originally there was some note in the tips section that the camera must be able to see your eye movement and can be affected by glasses or bright light (or no light). I do follow regular maintenance routines, such as keeping the screen clean and using the auto optimization scheduled restart feature.

It may be an issue with the beta that needs to be reported. Assuming that by "tried everything" means that you have adjusted ambient lighting and that the front camera is unobstructed. In any case, the display assistant is very useful for things like the phone app to keep the screen from timing out when you need to navigate a voice prompt menu. It's not necessarily a separate app to take the place of a baked in setting, but in this case may help you if nothing else does.

It still works for me like it always has. I am on Android 16, OneUI8.0. Sometimes the front camera may not be able to read your eye movements if there is a bright light shining directly on the screen (including direct sunlight) or if you are in a dark room. Even a reflection in your glasses, if you wear them, can cause the camera not see your eyes. The feature is controlled by the front camera. You can somewhat alleviate this by downloading Good Lock and the display assistant. With display assistant you can set certain apps to keep the screen on for up to 10 minutes or add a shortcut to the quick panel to keep your screen on for 30 minutes at a time. If you have not yet received the latest Google Play system update that removed the cache clearing from recovery mode, try clearing the cache partition.
