Since the update I got switched to Google messages. Moved back to original manually and lost all my blocking category I had in place and now everything is showing in one bucket called ALL. I don't believe that while doing an update you should be allowed to change my preferred settings.

Google Messages is now standard and preinstalled in all new Samsung phones. Also, according to the terms you agreed to when first setting up the phone, you actually consent to these sorts of changes. Samsung owns the software and can make modifications as it sees fit. I don't necessarily agree, but it is what it is.

see if you can restore your Samsung Messages from your backup in Samsung Cloud

Understandable they can switch but at least offer same features or make it less impactful negatively. Pain to reorganize everything and start over. Not the best user experience.

And you had no luck restoring as @notforhire mentioned?

I didn't lose any messages. Will it restore the settings for categorizing the messages? If not I at least have my messages which is a plus.

I haven't used Samsung Messages in many years, so I'm not sure if the settings inside the app would be restored. They might.

if you had them backed up, then your categories should be intact

How do I go back to a previous update, because I don't like the new emoji update ( moving emojis) when I send them. How do I change that?
