DiscussionsGalaxy Watch Ultra2 — Step counter randomly dies after a watch restart/reboot, only fixed by full factory reset (S25 Ultra, OneUI 8.5/OneUI 9.0 Beta)
Love the watch otherwise, but this is becoming a dealbreaker.
**Issue:**
Whenever a watch reboot or a restart occurs, step counter just stops working entirely. No steps get recorded no matter how much I walk/run.
**What I've tried (nothing works):**
* Restarting the watch
* Restarting the phone
* Reinstalling Samsung Health / Wearable app
* Toggling permissions
**The only thing that fixes it:**
A full factory reset of the watch. That's it. Nothing short of a complete wipe brings the step counter back.
**This sucks because:**
* Have to recalibrate blood pressure monitoring from scratch every time
* Have to re-verify/re-add bank cards for Samsung Wallet every time
* Lose all watch-side settings and have to set everything up again
I'm now on my **4th factory reset** in a short span just to get basic step tracking working again. Last restart was due to the patch update that was rolled out.
**My setup:**
* Galaxy Watch Ultra 2
* Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
* OneUI 8.5 -> Now 9.0 Beta2
Anyone else running into this? Is this a known bug with a fix in the pipeline, or is my unit just defective? At this point I don't know if I should push for a replacement or if this is a widespread software issue everyone's dealing with.
Any help appreciated — this is genuinely frustrating for an otherwise great watch.

DiscussionsHas nothing to do with Beta, also occurs in public firmwares. Samsung confirmed to me it's a bug and will be fixed in next Merge Request.
