Google assistant can't be accessed with "Hey Google"

Edit: It started working again. Not sure what the problem was. 

Can't wake up Google Assistant by saying "Hey Google" or "Ok Google".

well it works fine with me, although i barely can wake it up by swiping on the gesture bar

Mine wasn't working either. I went into the Google app, I went to settings for the Google assistant and when that page opened the toggle switched over to allow Google assistant to react to my voice. I seem to remember similar behavior last year after installing OneUI 5 Beta and possibly after upgrading to the stable version.

This happened to me before sent now yes waking up but they're is no audio feedback.(like if I ask Google something I only get text replies when I used to also get audio) Also not seeing my phone in the list of assistant devices. Is this a beta thing or something else?
