When I charge my galaxy watch 4. With the standby screen showing time and estimate time and so on. The aod doesn't have screen burn in prevention. It always burns in When charging for an hour and 30min or 30min. And the good thing it fades away eventually. But I feel like the aod is heating the watch as well due to it being on all the time. Maybe add custom time frame for screen to sleep.
Big update on the Timer app battery usage. I did my standard 30 minute timer running in the background test and it only took 0.6% battery. In fact, I'm going to test this again tomorrow to see if I get the same results because it's such a difference that I'm wondering if it's a fluke
It is normal for Battery to heat-up while charging due to increase in current flow (and heat generally dissipates through the cooling system after charging is done). AOD standby mode uses minimal battery usage while charging while there are other numerous reasons for battery to heat up (app usage, faulty charger, faulty battery...etc).
However, if you feel that battery is overheating, please submit your error report via Galaxy Wearable Beta app:

I had the watch 4 and just the screen being on while charging (no aod) ended up causing permanent screen burn. It wasn't visible with a white face but with a dark watch face it was easily noticeable. I set the screen to be off while charging with my watch 6.
