All you folks jumping on Samsung for only allowing T-Mobile ultra watches to join the beta is very presumptive.

Back when carriers pushed updates when and if they wanted, updates were very patchwork but, part of the issue was that carriers didnt want potentially unknown software operating on their networks.

Sprint and T-Mobile, were usually the first in the US to push updates because they worked more closely with some manufacturers.

Now with manufacturers pushing updates, though still with carrier permissions, things are a little cleaner.

However, carriers still dont like unknowns.
Most of them would probably prefer to just avoid beta software entirely but users will push the issue i think.

Im not sure, but I would guess that Samsung would love to test your watch on a carrier other than T-Mobile but they said no, for now.

Let me try to clarify this because you seem to be missing the point of all the posts. Alot of us here have Ultras that are NOT active on a carrier be it T-Mobile or not. We bought them directly from Samsung and are not able to download the beta even tho we were allowed to enroll. We need Samsung to clarify if your Ultra HAS to be active on T-Mobile or if an unactivated Ultra from Samsung directly is eligible.

I think you missed something
It does say T-Mobile only right?

I cant tell you why they do what they do
Only guess at the motivations
Maybe there is more of a difference than you know, between the lte and the bt models.
Maybe they need to make it work on a device with a functional lte radio first. BPvdA6XkLT.jpg

The Ultra has no BT only version. What I'm not understanding is why an Ultra thats bought from Samsung Directly thats has NO tie in with a carrier isn't able too. The Ultra is the same everywhere you get it, you either use the LTE or don't. The way its worded it would imply that you need an to have an Ultra period and if by chance it's a T-Mobile sold device as well then you are eligible as well. Thats all. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Exactly there's only one model ultra . So what Samsung should say is if you're a t Mobile account in your watch this beta for you. Everybody else just wait.

There was no issues with the last beta last year. There is no issue with the phone beta. If you bought your device from anyone but the carrier you should be eligible. That is one of the reason to not buy from a phone provider.

Well I have the ultra on the t-mobile network. I bought it unlocked from samaug directly. The beta program let me join, but I cannot download the beta 8. I also have the 'galaxy s24 ultra' unlocked from samsung directly and maybe that is why I can't get the beta 8 to download on the watch ultra. Maybe it will only work with the s25's with one ui 8 installed, if that is the reason why I can't get the watch to update the 8 beta, samsung should say so and be more clear for everyone's sake, including letting anyone with a ultra or 7 lte join the beta program. My 2 cents...

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in One UI 8 Beta.

Reason for your Watch Ultra Ineligibility in Beta update was because of your carrier, which is in Metro PCS carrier instead of T-Mobile.

Even though MetroPCS uses T-Mobile network, MetroPCS is not supported for Beta participation at this time.

We sincerely appreciate your participation in Beta program.

Regards,

One UI Beta Team
