As said above RCS feature.
You can turn it off, if you don't want ppl to see you writing or reading, but if you do, you won't be able to see them either.

Thank you for your feedback.

You can turn off the isTyping notifications through Settings.  Open your messaging app > Settings > Chat Settings.  You can choose to turn of isTyping notifications as well as read receipts.
