In this new release Samsung has moved the search bar that you type in from the top of the screen to the bottom. That was an excellent idea.

However, when you start typing in the search bar you see your results or past apps at the very tippy top of the phone and so you have to stretch and go all the way to the top of the phone where the search bar used to be.

This is actually become more inconvenient because rather than typing up top and then moving my finger a quarter inch to open the app that I want to open I now have to go to the bottom and type it in and then go all the way to the top to tap the app that I want to open. They did the exact opposite by making it more difficult now to open apps.

A potential solution would be as you are typing in the bar at the bottom to show the recent apps that are going to pop up two or three inches up on the screen where you can reach them and not at the tippy tippy tippy top of the roof of the phone. What was the whole point of this experiment if you now have to go bottom the top rather than top top.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on the new search bar placement in One UI. The goal of moving the search bar to the bottom of the screen was to enhance one-handed usability, but we understand that having search results appear at the top may reduce efficiency for quick access.

Your suggestion to display recent apps and search results closer to the keyboard for easier reach is a great idea. Improving the flow from typing to selecting an app could make the experience more intuitive and align better with the original intent of this change.

We will ensure that this feedback is shared with the relevant teams for consideration in future refinements. Samsung continues to fine-tune user interactions based on real-world feedback, and insights like yours play a key role in shaping these improvements.

Thank you for being part of the One UI Beta community, and we appreciate your continued contributions!

Regards,
One UI Beta Team
