Location remains active.

Hello everyone,

Following the One UI 6 beta update, I've noticed that applications are accessing my location in the background, a behavior not observed prior to this update. Furthermore, I'm unable to disable location access for these applications.

The persistent green location icon in the Quick panel confirms ongoing location usage by applications.
Until location is turn off before it disappears in the Quick panel.

Have other users encountered this issue since the One UI 6 beta update?

Really, bro.
It's frustrating for apps to access your location.
There is no option for me to "change access."

Yeah this is a huge issue as it accompanies battery drain anytime you have persistent location access and it's also a privacy concern. I'm glad I'm not the only one and tbh this is a big enough issue that it merits a hotfix as opposed to waiting for stable OneUI 7, Betas 3 - 5 were way more usable than this in all regards.

Samsung really needs a hot fix update.
This is a privacy concern. Why apps keep using location constant in the background.

Your applications access location in the background all the time. All they did is put an icon. Turn off your phone and location will be off the whole time.

No, not to this extent they do not - particularly system apps. Google Play Services is permanently pinging location - as in, always showing 0min ago - and several other system services are pinging as frequently as every 5mins or less. Typically location is accessed every 15min at most on a system level unless something is wrong or you've set your phone up to be *way* too battery intensive, which I have not - that's how I noticed the bug. Icons for location have existed for several Android versions across different devices - this is just quite noticeabable because it's constantly on now. Google Pixel had this same issue a few years back.

Idk, maybe is just a glitch or they still working on location, it's hard for coding, believe me, Samsung has 100 function on 1 activity if you know what I mean, that's why we're here on development side.
So we have to tell Samsung what's going and they will fix.

Well fixing not easy, is taking time, people might not sleep to make it in time.
I do coding in kotlin , and sometimes those functions are unstable.
Because of to many functions and activities, even 50 activities can be shared with 1 or 2 functions.
So please don't be upset on this little visible function!
There is a function with this code:
Android visibility true or false
If use location this app this location icon visible true
Or false .
Thats nothing wrong to see it !
So they can make it
Android visibility false on using system app !
So you will not come here to say anything because is hidden.

So maybe Samsung left it to figure out how some apps are working and when usually is working the location true !
If nothing in use should be hidden this icon but anyway function will be there working all the time ! Mean, ready for showing up whenever an app is using the location ! Not necessarily reveal your position, some apps need location for other purposes!
