Anyone know what people application is?

Since updating to the beta I have seen a application call people running In the background I am not sure what it is can anyone explain it to me.

It's the "People" edge panel. De-select it in edge panel settings and it will go away. Hopefully this gets fixed or someone comes up with a better work around soon.
