Anyone having problems with Google assistant not responding bye saying ok Google works with side button but not by voice

I thought Google Assistant was discontinued? I had this happen while using Gemini. I restarted my phone and it worked again.

Yeah it's really poor lately. It also responds to itself talking and I don't remember this being an issue ever before. Not sure it's related to 9.0b or an update to the app, though.

Google assistant is officially gone. Now we're stuck with Gemini. So now when I say good morning and all I wanted to do is turn on the lights I get a lengthy obnoxious conversation about what it wants to do
