How are ppl making widgets in different shapes?

When I choose a widget it just goes on the home screen. Same as always. Is it only pixels that can do this or something? I've tried a lot of times. Read articles on how & it's just not there. (The pencil or whatever)

Well Google pixel utilizes the material u design and samsung mostly kept the same design but i just noticed you can make samsung widgets transparent to the home screen

Yeah you can do that in split screen mode too.

If you are looking to alter dimension, you can do that once widget is placed on  home screen.
