Reverting back (workaround?)

I've been seeing various remarks about reverting back to the previous stable release (something about needing a pc and smart switch eerrrrr something) and then i look at my pc and think "this is a joke, right?". The hard drive in my pc died earlier this year, and I'm not about to rip my graphics card out just to find the stupid thing so i can see what i need in terms of replacement. And because the one pc repair place there is anywhere near me was abandoned long before i moved into the neighborhood, there's no way to get it repaired.

So even if i did want to use this method, i couldn't. So to put this question simply, would there be a way of doing this WITHOUT a pc? or would one such as myself be stuck?

Most of what I've seen is either Do-it-yourself while connected to a PC (and involving Smart Switch, ADB bridge, etc...), or taking it in somewhere (Most usually a Samsung store to see what they can do about it).

Note: either way, if it's done, the phone is essentially factory reset in the process (which is where Smart Switch comes in, to backup any information so it can be restored later).

Oh i know. i like to backup my stuff first anyway. i don't care to revert back anyway. I'm just saying that i would NOT be able to use a pc. I opened my pc once a few years ago because i was thinking of upgrading my hard drive. first thing i saw was a giant graphics card.... needless to say i immediately closed it back up, gave it my signature 2 finger pushup and said nope. But now it seems like i have no choice but to risk it.

Why do you need to revert to stable 8.5? Are you having problems with the beta you've been running for 7 builds? Stable One UI 9 is just around the corner.

If you do need to roll back, there's an FAQ with instructions (see the beta tips link where you normally access the beta program).1788590855682.jpg

Oh no. i didn't say i needed to (or wanted to). I'm saying that i wouldn't be able to if I did. i don't have a pc right now so it would be impossible.... unless by some miracle my hard drive woke from the grave.
