The notification icons on the Always on Display are way too small in the upper left corner of the screen. I can't make out what they are when I glance at the screen. I would like the option to have them under the clock as they have been in the past.

I agree. They seem to have gotten smaller with the second One UI 7 beta update. I would like the icons to be bigger or to have the previous placement under the clock, like how it looks with One UI 6. Having larger icons or a different placement for them would make them easier to see.

If you all didn't know, you can put them back under the clock/ middle of the screen. Go to settings/ notifications/ lock screen notifications and select cards. This will add the normal icon placement to AOD back and also cards in the lock screen. They still look a tad smaller but much better than the corner placement, which would be decent if like you said, they were a little bigger, so I hope they listen but keep both options.

That works if the phone is in the portrait orientation. If the phone is in landscape, the AOD still has the icons in the upper left corner even though cards is selected.

Not for mine, the lock screen will if you have it set to auto rotate but It can be disabled individually, but if your speaking to the lock screen not auto adjusting when auto rotating, i understand that, but my aod stays in portrait regardless.

With the Home screen showing, rotate the phone so it is landscape. I then place my phone in a stand in landscape mode. When the phone goes to the AOD, the AOD will be in landscape.
