Bluetooth connected icon should be visible on Status Bar when on home screen

In One UI 6.1 when a Bluetooth device was connected the Bluetooth connected icon used to be visible on the Status Bar in the home screen.

But now in One UI 7 Bluetooth connected icon is not visible on homescreen but only visible when the quick settings panel is pulled down.

This casues unnecessary confusion as to whether a Bluetooth device is connected or not since its icon is not visible on homescreen.

Please rectify this issue and make the Bluetooth connected icon visible on the homescreen status bar without having the need to pull down the quick settings panel.

Screenshot attached.

Thanks.

It actually looks better without the Bluetooth constantly being displayed.

No it doesn't look better at all.

In fact, it creates confusion in ascertaining whether a device is connected or not since there is no way to know this other than pulling down the notification/quick settings panel. This adds an unnecessary extra step.

Volume bar shows you if audio is going into bluetooth, you would be controlling volume up and down anyway if you're confused as to why you can't hear your audio, why do you need an extra indicator?

Volume bar too appears only when pulling down the notification/quick settings panel or when pressing the volume buttons. This is very counterintuitive.

Also what possible use can we get out of the empty space on the status bar if not for these useful indicators ?

I would like to see the Bluetooth connected icon without having to interact with the screen with an extra step.

There was no reason to withdraw a feature that was already available in One UI 6.1.

Im going to ask again, why do you need an extra indicator? I genuinely want to know what practicality there is behind it. I don't see where confusion could come from, most Bluetooth devices have a little chime or ai voice that tells you exactly what you just connected to

quick settings is exactly where all this random extra stuff belongs. less useless information clutter on the main status could make it possible for a larger size that makes it easier to see from a distance, which actually has a practical impact on day to day use, because as you pointed out, that part of the screen tends to be completely unused space

Agreed. I would be so disappointed if they put it back on the main status bar.

Hello,

Thank you all for sharing your perspectives on the Bluetooth status icon. It's great to see different viewpoints being discussed, as it highlights how diverse user preferences can be.

For those who prefer the Bluetooth icon on the status bar at all times, itā€™s understandable that having a visual confirmation on the home screen provides convenience and eliminates the need to open the Quick Settings panel to check the connection status.

On the other hand, the suggestion to minimize icons on the status bar for a cleaner look and improved readability also makes sense. Reducing clutter can enhance usability for those who prioritize simplicity and accessibility.

Both approaches have their merits, and weā€™ll share this feedback with the development team to consider how to strike the right balance. Perhaps there could be an option to toggle the visibility of the Bluetooth icon, giving users the flexibility to choose what works best for them.

Thank you for contributing to this discussionā€”your input helps make One UI better for everyone!

Regards,

One UI Beta Team
