SuggestionsThe following is my opinion, and I am not trying to impose it on anyone or insist that only my perspective should be accepted. Please ensure you understand the main points of this post before leaving a comment.
1. Suggestion for the Active Use of Squircle Curvature
In UI design, sharp-edged rectangles are no longer widely used.
Instead, rounded rectangles with curved corners are more commonly adopted.
Typically, these rounded rectangles have corners that are part of a circle.
As shown above, while these rounded rectangles provide a more stable appearance compared to sharp-edged rectangles, the abrupt transition from a straight line to a circular curve can appear somewhat unnatural.
This image demonstrates how the curvature suddenly begins at a point where the curveās radius is zero, making the transition between the straight line and the curve appear sharp and awkward.
In the case of Appleās iOS, such circle-based rounded rectangles are rarely used.
Instead, they adopt a curvature that begins and flows smoothly and naturally. This shape, which lies somewhere between a rectangle and a circle, is referred to as a "squircle."
While parts of Samsung's One UI (e.g., settings or the Quick Panel in One UI 7) have adopted this squircle curvature, many areas still use the traditional circle-based rounded rectangle, leading to inconsistencies and a somewhat unnatural appearance.
If the squircle curvature were applied universally across the interface, it would create a sense of cohesion and provide users with a more stable and visually pleasing experience.
2. Suggestion for Actively Using Blur in UI Animations
The blur effect is one of the most effective ways to enhance the visual clarity and aesthetic appeal of displayed elements.
In One UI 7, blur effects are applied to elements such as the lock screen widgets, home screen widgets, and the Now Bar, improving visibility and aesthetics.
What if these blur effects were also incorporated into system animations? Let me provide an example.
In One UI 7 Beta 3, when a user taps on an app icon to launch it, the remaining app icons shrink and move inward while the selected app launches.
If a blur effect were added to these shrinking app icons and the background, intensifying as the animation progresses, it would make the animation appear even smoother and more natural.
Similarly, during the unlock animation in Beta 3, app icons appear to enlarge from the center. If a blur effect were applied at the start of the animation and then gradually faded as the icons became fully visible, it would make the transition feel less abrupt and more natural.
Additionally, effects such as increasing the intensity of blur while swiping the lock screen could further enhance the overall experience.
Once again, I am deeply grateful for the highly satisfying One UI 7 experience, and I hope that, if possible, some of these suggestions can be implemented to make One UI even better.
Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post.

SuggestionsHello,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed post! Your observations and suggestions about UI design and animation effects reflect a deep understanding of user experience and aesthetics. Let us break down some of your key points and encourage further discussion from the community:
1. Squircle (square - circle) Curvature Across One UI
Your explanation of the transition between sharp-edged rectangles, circle-based rounded rectangles, and squircles is both insightful and well-articulated. The consistency and visual harmony that could result from universally adopting squircle curvature in One UI are compelling. As youāve noted, some parts of One UI, like the Quick Panel, already incorporate this curvature. Expanding its application could indeed provide a more cohesive and polished experience.
2. Enhanced Use of Blur in Animations
Your suggestion to integrate blur effects into system animations is both creative and practical. The examples you providedāsuch as adding blur to the shrinking app icons during app launches or enhancing the unlock animationāpaint a vivid picture of how these changes could elevate the overall fluidity and elegance of One UI.
Itās great to see how much youāre enjoying One UI 7 and offering suggestions to make it even better. Your positive and constructive feedback is invaluable to both the development team and the community.
Thank you again for your detailed post. The discussion here helps shape the future of One UI, and your insights are truly appreciated.
Regards,
One UI Beta Team
