Users should not see the charging process after the phone boots. My recommendation is to keep a screen with a boot animation while the services and apps allowed in the background boot are loaded, all completely transparent to the user. At the end of that animation the phone would be ready to be used and then the lock screen is shown. All without having to unlock the phone. That way I think it would make sense to turn auto-reboot back on. Since when we need to use the phone after a reboot we will not see the annoying Starting android... nor will we see how the keyboard simply has not been loaded yet and we cannot even write a message.
