You can now turn off the edge panel long-press that activates AI Select. Settings > display > edge panels.

Thanks, @Mujibar ! This restored the ability to use Edge Panels without figuring out my fat fingers. I guess I should say "Edge Panel," because the compass in the Tools panel is the only one I use and missed. OK, maybe the ruler and surface level in the Tools panel, occasionally. 😁

You're welcome, @requa! We can thank Android Authority for writing about it. That's how I found out because, of course, this wasn't in the changelog.

The Edge Panel is really more of a cute remnant of the old Edge series phones with the curved screen, but I'll take it. What I'd really like to see is the same functionality of the Tools Edge Panel in a Home Screen Widget, possibly showing a 1*1 compass like the one that shows in Google Maps until clicked.  Dang. I wish I'd thought of that months ago to suggest it for OneUI 9.
