After updating the Android firmware, the Google Wallet app detects that the phone is rooted, and payments are not possible. I've tried this multiple times on different devices. However, you can pay normally using the Samsung Pay app.

This is intended behavior and happens through every beta. The app will not begin working again until the final stable software update is installed. Google only authorizes Wallet use on devices running official non-beta software. Samsung Wallet works because Samsung allows it through their beta phases.

Mine did the same thing on the 2nd beta release. No issues with the first beta

It didn't detect rooted, it detects beta software not fully approved yet. Hence no use of Google wallet.

It's always been this way.
I have multiple posts and replies concerning this in prior and now current beta tests

These limitations are part of the Beta environment and are typically resolved in the official release version.
