Recently, all of the images within a chat via text message, disappeared, became compeltely unviewable.  I checked Google messaging and Samsung messaging and they are just gone.  The contact who has sent me these images, also has a samsung phone and can view all of the shared images between us, but I cannot.  Any ideas?

I hate to ask-did you save them? you need to long-press the image and press 'save image'. Also, make sure you ALLOW CAMERA & CONTACTS in permissions for messages app.

It was a text thread over 7 years, some I downloaded, but not all, and is the only contact where the images became grayed out, both the photos I sent and the photos I received

I don't know if you tried this but when you are in Google messages, click on the search icon; it will (hopefully) bring up contact profiles and below that you should see a folder named 'images'. If they are on your phone they WILL ALL BE THERE. fingers crossed for you! I found a bunch of images I never knew I even had! So please try it.

Tried that, brings up all text images....except for the contact where the images within the texts have "disappeared"
