Auto Android does not load maps

I've noticed that when plugging the phone to my vehicle generates a connection error which is corrected by unplugging the phone and opening the Google maps in the phone first, If you fail to open app first it won't be available in the auto Android home screen.

No issues with android auto and beta for me.

I has a similar issue. How I fixed it was clearing the cache on the android auto app  itself. I may have cleared data too. Cant quite remember. BUT after,  I Shut off the car restarted it, Restarted the phone (after clearing the cache on the Android auto app it self) then plugged in back it and Perfection ever since.

What year of vehicle? Does your vehicle have an update patch available to match the updates on Android Auto

I had a similar issue before with my subaru. Subaru released an update for the radio and the issue stopped
