When I'm in a call, the screen goes black. Then when I press the power button to turn the screen on, it goes black instantly again. I see the green dot going on and off as the screen goes on and off. But I can't hang up or do anything unless if the person on the call hangs up.

Also navigate to settings -> Battery and device care -> Diagnostics , select sensor and press start to run diagnostics. This should check your light sensor for any abnormalities.
