My music player doesn't show on the lock screen while music is playing. It shows about 5% of the time and it's frustrating to have to open the phone to change the track.

This isn't a fix, but a temporary work around to skipping tracks while your display is off. Sound Assistant (Good Lock Plugin) offers a feature to control songs with the volume keys.

A bit versatile, but skips the unlock process.
