Status bar icons shifting

Anyone notice this status bar icons shifting? It happens when numbers on either left (time) or right (battery percentage) side changes. 

It is not really bothering me but I'm just curious if there's a reason for it. Is it, for example, intended to prevent screen burn?

Yes, it's meant to prevent screen burn in. This was implemented in One UI 5

I remember that the whole status bar shifted on One UI 5 beta last year, but it disappeared later on.

Also, this icons shifting is definitely not implemented on One UI 5 (see the attached).
