I know that carriers need to make Android 14/One UI 6 "their own" which can cause delays in receiving the update. Does having an unlocked S23 Ultra mean I'll receive the update sooner since the phone is not carrier specific?

No, usually and according to the past years, the unlocked model got it the very last

Unfortunately, samsung is screwing unlocked users as well. Even our updates are on mercy of carrier even though unlocked.

Samsung! I always buy unlocked phones because I don’t want to deal with  carriers. But looks like Samsung sold us to the carriers as well.

That's a shame. Seems odd. Carriers can take days, weeks... Sometimes months before they optimize for their specific needs. We could be in for a very long wait.

Thank you for asking this question. I also have an unlocked version and my husband has mobile. I can't send rcs messaging with him unless I'm using the Google texting app which sucks😒

Makes me wonder why carriers even need to "modify" Samsung's OS.
