I have an S-View flip cover (with S-Pen), so I'd never be able to see the charging eye candy.

And even if I didn't have a cover, I'm not gonna sit and stare at my charging phone - it sits on a counter top over there 👉 while charging

There are plenty of apps to add charging animations on the Google Play Store as well if you want something fancy. Example this one where it's an animated fluid that fills up as the phone charges.

Android is very customizable if you spend some time on it.
