Can you remove the empty space? It's too big and really has no purpose. We all know how many unread messages we have. Would be nice if it had a pitch black dark mode like Samsung messages.

It's no different than the rest of One UI. That's the whole point of the modified version of Google messages

If you want pitch black instead of dark gray I would suggest "repainter"

It actually does pitch black mode and goes beyond the lackluster amount of color choices that Samsung/Android 13 give you
