For a more intuitive multitasking experience, there should be an option to start a split screen view between two apps once the user pulls up the recents page but before lifting the thumb off the screen. The user should keep the thumb hovering over the location they want to place the app for like about a second before a blue highlight indicates to the user that they can let go.
