which message app you using?  Samsung or Google?  Probably means unread.  In Google it's blue, it might be green in Samsung.

It likely means that person is available for RCS chats.

Here is an article that explains what RCS chat is:

I'm going for unread.  I know in Google I get a blue dot for any messages I haven't read (meaning actually opened the message, rather than just reading the notification). And, it's my understanding that Samsung Messages does not support RCS.

Would that I could. I seem to have no unread texts at the moment to show, and I'm not very popular so I don't get many texts anyway. šŸ˜œ
Oh, I just found this one in my spam & blocked folder. blue dot with a number. The numbebr would tell me how many messages from the same number I haven't read.

Maybe the color has to do with the theme settings?
