Disappointed that the moon photos are fake. Samsung pulled a fast one on all of us.

Hi, all the moon photos are AI created. I get great pictures as well. But after taking a bunch of moon pictures different angles etc, they are all the same. There's videos on YouTube explaining how Samsung does them.

With all due respect, ALL cell phone pictures are fake to a certain extent. It is all computational AI, what your eyes see is not what you are snapping

You are exactly right. However, I was really disappointed about the Galaxy ultra claim on the moon photos.

I would say the moon shots with scene optimizer turned on is not 100% authentic, but I personally would not call it fake.

If you don't like AI adding detail on the moon, you can just turn the scene optimizer off. It is not like you don't have the option to do so.

I also get it when someone says that Samsung uses AI to add some details on the moon. However, I feel like no body talks about how good their AI is to "add" detail of the moon shot. If other companies have done this, I think I will not hear the end of it. Like, "even though it's kinda fake, thier AI is so good to be able to do that".

Samsung AI is incredible. But if you look at the moon shots of several different people etc, all the moon photos are fake. In reality 100zoom isn't going to get that moon effect when the moon is 238000.miles away. You are right, but check out the videos on YouTube proving Samsung moon photos aren't real.
When you do zoom in, the moon is mostly blurry, but when you take the picture you get an incredible picture of the moon.

And yes, now other phone manufacturers are being called out for faking pictures as well.
Thx

First, have you tested with your own phone? I have seen those Youtube videos of Samsung moon shot too, but they had scene optimizer on. Did they also compare it with the scene optimizer turned off?

Second, I've noticed the AI enhances the moon shot since using S21 Ultra so I've turned it off, but the moon shots are still good. In the collage of the moon with black sky, the left one is when scene optimizer was off and the right is when it was on. The details on the left is still there but kinda blurry.

Third, I'm glad you pointed out the moon distance from earth. My question is why is the sun not smaller than the moon in the sky since the sun distance from earth is greater than the moon distance from earth? It's because the sun is bigger than the moon. It's called "Angular size/apperent size".
This is why the International Space Station is closer to earth but phone cannot zoom to get the details of it because its angular size(~0.15 degree) is smaller than the moon's angular size (~0.5 degree).Screenshot_20230317_171346_Gallery_1000004733_1679087626.jpgScreenshot_20230317_171412_Gallery_1000004735_1679087652.jpg20230317_171734_1000004736_1679087854.jpg

Here is a photo I took the other day. That particular picture is exactly like a picture that someone takes from the other side of the world. 20230304_185126_1000000048_1677979822.jpg
