Hello,

I have gone thru my phone and have tried many solutions to try to fix my issue. It started with all the messages being muted so I selected them all and unmuted them by clicking the notification and now receive notifications on the current open messages.

But if I receive a new conversation that new message is with the crossed-out bell I don't get the notification sound that a new message arrives and have to select that conversation and unmute it.

When a new message comes in no sound plays I have to unmute it then I can get a notification sound but each new message is the same muted ....till I select and unmute it 
 
Help Im lost ... before I do a complete factory reboot !!!

I had this same problem with my bride's S22U last Fall. I canceled the mute on all of the messages. The mute came back on a couple of contacts. I cleared those and we never experienced it again. Don't do a reset unless you have no choice.

Yeah we have been unmuting each new conversation as it comes in... if you're not in our contact list and don't contact us I guess you're not important enough and are muted anyways lol..... Another thing I found I think on the last update there is a sleep mode and a do not disturb mode she had both on and I think it was disrupting the messages I turned both off right now and we'll see how it goes..... thanks for the info

I want to know how to unmute all of my messages conversations. It was fine until an update. It is not acceptable to have to manually select unmute a conversation in the default Samsung messages app one by one

In addition, make sure Sleep Mode and/or DND are not on for the times you receive the messages. 

@DraganTine has turning off Sleep Mode and Do Not Disturb helped resolve this behavior? If those were on, that would explain why they were muted.

Hello,
I ended up resetting the message app and all preferences as sleep mode and do not disturb where off and messages were still being muted.

so far it's fixed until the next time lol.
