Good morning.

I received my g23 on  Aug 22.2023. I hard reset it, signed in to Google and tried to customize the voice to text feature. I am visually impaired and use it 99% of the time.

I noticed the Samsung v2t was up and running and tried it. It is terrible. It thinks "comma" is a word and mistypes about 50% of the time.

I can't get Google V2T to work. I installed Gboard and changed the setting to Google voice typing. I've followed several videos on YouTube to make sure I've got all the settings. I even hard reset the phone. The mic works for phone calls.

The mic does not work for voice memos.

Is Samsung blocking this feature?

I've been using Samsung since the Galaxy S3 and even before smartphones. So when I try to use the dictate feature gboard it will shut off midsentence and will often stop on the exact same word when I repeat myself. I've been finding this annoying and and it's getting annoying. To the point that I'm considering moving away from Samsung.

This is coupled with their Apple-like business practices making installing third party apps without permission and forcing you to use their apps by disabling the disable app feature on the calendar for example. All while increasing the price their phones. And I know this is strictly a Samsung thing because voice to text feature seems to be working perfectly fine on this app without problem and furthermore working on other devices perfectly fine like Motorola and the pixel so why should pay extra for.

I have fortunately have gave up after being told "we have received no reports of customers having this problem" despite having reported numerous times myself and finding other members mentioning this on Samsung's own community boards and acknowledgment from employees on the post themselves.

Update, as of 2038, 6 minutes after my last post at 20: 32 on 30 Sept 2023, I looked around in settings again and didn't change a single thing, and so I just went back to the YouTube app to see if the Google microphone is still cutting off after every single word, and somehow, someway, after doing about three or four tests, it's working properly again.

I have no idea what changed to fix this. I'm glad it's working, but it's also frustrating and puzzling knowing that there seems to be no way in knowing how to fix this issue, nor what causes the issue (again, when I had this issue yesterday and 6 minutes ago, I had cleared the cache which is normally the most common answer and solution for a lot of miss happenings between apps), and again clearing the cache did not help either time it seems... And just I don't know where the Google board mic starts behaving properly again on the YouTube app.

I do not recall having this issue when using voice dictation for SMS text, messenger, this of what I am dictating right now, Google searches / internet searches in general, etc... It only has ever happened on the YouTube app... Maybe clearing the cache takes time? Like after you clear the cache, maybe it takes several minutes for the app to start working properly again with the mic? Oh, I did restart my phone at some point... I think I restarted my phone prior to my first post... Yeah, I had to have because I didn't restart my phone before starting this post here... So I really truly have no idea what fixed it, but maybe clearing caches and whichever apps you all are having issues with the mic in, and then restarting your phone may fix it? Maybe after doing both and then giving it a few minutes? I really wish I could be of more help.
