I have an older vehicle with early Bluetooth that only accommodates incoming phone calls and outgoing calls to the directory entered in the vehicle Bluetooth system. With my Note 8, I was able to utilize "Readitome" to make other outgoing calls and verbally receive/send texts. Currently the app does not work for Android 13. I have a Roav Bolt hooked up through my vehicle's auxiliary connection which handles calls and texts but only through auxiliary and not through the radio when it is playing.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can use the Driving mode to have my calls and texts come through the car stereo when the radio is tuned in?

U may need to upgrade to a newer Bluetooth devise all together.. unfortunately Bluetooth devises can't be upgraded once its made.

Thank you. But unfortunately that is not really an option. Wouldn't be worth it to upgrade to a new head unit on an older vehicle. Hopefully the developer of Readitome will come out with an Android 13 version soon. That app works fairly well in transmitting messages over the vehicle speakers while the radio is playing.

You can get a cigarette lighter Bluetooth FM transmitter. Just tune radio to the same channel as transmitter to use Bluetooth audio via car audio system. Works best on a channel without or poor reception in your area.

Thank you but that doesn't work for me in my area. I live in area where as you drive, you're coming into radio stations broadcasting all over the dial. Also what I am looking to be able to receive texts WHILE I am listening to the radio. I am hoping to use features like "Modes and Routines" that are built into the S23 Ultra to transmit over my Bluetooth (old/early) built into the current head unit. That's why Readitome is such a good app but it is not currently compatible with Android 13.

Have you tried changing the Bluetooth AVRCP, PBAP and possibly codec in Developer Options to older versions to see if it works with your car? Problem is you may have to change it again to work with newer devices outside of the car.

I haven't tried that. I will look into it. I wouldn't want to be in a situation where I have to go back and forth but it's worthwhile looking into your suggestion. Thank you.

FYI,I have started looking into your suggestion but today is a busy day for me so I won't be able to do much. But I do believe the issue lies more in the car and I won't be able to make changes there. I need to find the Bluetooth specs on the Note 8 and compare the two phones. Also if I can figure out how the Readittome app manages to make the connection, that might help.
While the app is not perfect, it is a big help. From what I see I don't think changing some of the specs on the phone will accomplish what I want. But I will be pursuing it further using your suggestions

Good luck. Definitely, the problem is with the older Bluetooth module in the car. That's why I suggested change the profiles on the phone since you can adjust it there. I think it's worth it even for testing functionality.

Because we communicated back and forth on this topic, I thought I might update you. Found out the head unit does not have A2DP. So I am in the process of using Samsung Routines and both the head unit and a Roav Bolt to get around the issue. I had removed the Bolt, but it seems to handle communication with Google Assistant somewhat better than just the phone itself.
