Just got my S24 Ultra. Wanted to move from iOS. Every time I use Smart Switch to transfer data, I could successfully complete the process in Smart Switch app, go into Whatsapp on my S24 Ultra, then start the Whatsapp import chat loading process.
But then every time at say 93% or 95%, Whatsapp would automatically jump into the next page asking me to fill in my name and profile picture, skipping the screen of "Import Complete". After confirming my name and picture, and "Initializing" completes, all I can see is empty chat history without anything being restored. Interestingly, the notification center still has a bar of Whatsapp "Importing" that is forever stuck at 93/95%.
Sounds like something you would have to contact WhatsApp about, if you are using their program's import feature. Do they have an export feature that you can export from the old device?
@JWan I didn't even know that WhatsApp could be transferred like that. IME you have to go into WhatsApp on your old device and do a backup (to the cloud/account). Then on the new phone you restore from that backup.
Gave up with Smart Switch, was almost giving up on moving to Android...
In the end I used a third-party application called iMyFone (iTransor) to move WhatsApp chats. It works as of Aug 11, 2024. Moving from iPhone 15 Pro Max to S24 Ultra.
