My last discussion was marked "solved" but wasn't and I was unable to reply. But now I have an update.

My UN50AU8000FXZA (build date 10/22) delivered to me two weeks ago with firmware 1420 and it currently says via OTA update that it's up to date. My 2 month old UN55AU8000BXZA (build date 6/22) is currently on 2120, which the website states is the most recent.

I have downloaded 2120 and tried numerous times to update the 50 inch to it, but no updates are found every time I try. I know for a fact, the USB is formatted properly and im extracting the files correctly.

I spoke with Samsung Support via phone, chat and texts, with no help.

I noticed the 55 inch says thats its current firmware type is T-NKLAAKUC (which matches the online downloaded firmware updates. My 50 inch in question shows it it T-NKLSAKUC. This doesnt match the firmware file sourced online as the most recent updated one.

My new question is does this indicate that there are potentially two different firmware versions (NKLSA vs NKLAA) and the currently available one for download does not match the one thats on my TV. If so, is 1420 indeed the most current for my Tv's main board vs the other one and what's reflected online. Given ive tried ever level of support, it seems like I need an engineer to reach out to help me with this question.

I am encountering a similar issue, our brand new UN55AU8000FXZA has firmware 1420.9 on it and also won't update. We noticed this issue as some features seem to be missing from the TV (Ambient Mode and Gallery). I have tried multiple times in multiple ways to update the firmware (different drives, different folder layouts) to no avail. Our "About this TV" lists similar to what you have found, the software version is T-NKLSAKUC-1420.9, but the download from the site seems to be aimed at  T-NKLAAKUC.

Not sure about Gallery, but the AU8000's do not come with ambient mode. Only higher end models like The Frame support that feature.

I have a feeling the newer produced ones (September 2022-current) may have a newer updated main board that the previous ones and are considered a different/newer revision vs the other ones. That would explain the slightly different software version numbers (NKLSAKUK vs NKLAAKUC) and it appears they are so new or Samsung isn't differentiating them on their website yet.

the newest software for these newer revisions may indeed only be 1420.9. there is a newer model tv in the lineup, a Q90 or something, that also shows on the Samsung website having 1420 being its most recent firmware version. we would need someone from their engineering to explain this one. Samsungs regular customer service only sees what we see, the old revision and 2120.

the back of my UN50AU8000 says its version number "AB55". I believe the UN55AU8000 I have is different. what's your TV's version number say on the back sticker?

also, if you look up the available main boards for sale on ebay for the UN50AU8000, they have a sticker affixed to the board showing the firmware version they came pre-installed with. ive seen everything from the 120's to 1800's. I really think the newest produced models have a newer, different main board than the other previous released models.

My back sticker shows the version is WB88/UAU8000_L/AU8000B-U55AB1, with a manufacturer date of August, 2022. I agree that it looks like it's a different mainboard than before, which would explain the difference in firmware, but should not account for a difference in features (this TV has the "Game" feature, which seems like one that recently was released, but is missing Ambient Mode and seemingly some default Samsung apps). Ambient mode was one of the selling points for my wife as she is wall mounting it in her office.

Aside from that, there are some things that just seem....odd....about the way this TV works (random input switching, EXTREMELY laggy menu at times). I have a TU8000 and have had no issues with it.

Is the TV needing the update working correctly? Everything works with no issues? If so, I wouldn't worry about updating the firmware and simply turn off the auto update option. Here's why...

I've had 2 Samsung TVs so far, and the firmware updates rarely, if ever do anything improvement wise. The one TV received several updates since it was new, and neither of them fixed any of the numinous problems that the TV was plagued with, nor added anything new aside from a redesigned smart hub recent menu. The other TV has received several as well, and is still receiving updates. However, a few of the updates for that model have broken some of its features, and the latest update now causes the audio to drop out every hour while watching over-the-air TV.

In other words, if the TV isn't broke, don't try to fix it by applying an update. I'm definitely going to start doing that with my next TV.

Everything seems to work properly. The menu seems slightly different than my 55 inch AU8000 likely due to the software differences.

I'm having the same issue upgrading.  "About" reports Model UN50AU8000FXZA, current software version T-NKLSAKUC-1420.9 - I'm having issues.... I have a Polk theater soundbar with anynet.  The TV and Home Theater have trouble talking to each other for control.  The TV unmutes itself whenever muted.  It also often turns itself back on after I turn it off....  seems like a FW upgrade might address those things.

I think I can shed some light on this situation. There's not a lot of information on the internet about this, but it appears that Samsung switched the display panel in the AU8000 from a VA to an IPS sometime during the summer of 2022. The main board was likely changed/updated due to hardware differences, along with it's firmware, which is likely why you can't update to the latest version offered on Samsung's website, hence the different software versions (T-NKLSAKUC & T-NKLAAKUC). Seeing that you stated slight menu differences between your two AU8000's, it's likely that additional picture options were added to accommodate for the nature of IPS panels.

Personally at that point, Samsung should have sold the revised IPS version under a different model, like AU8050. I recently purchased a 55" AU8100 as the RTINGS review stated that it had a VA panel, only to get burned when I eventually realized that it had an IPS panel with inferior contrast and highlights. I wish manufactures would be more transparent with the type of panel that traditional LED TVs come with. Had I known before hand that I was getting an IPS panel, I would have purchased something else.

this is EXACTLY what I assumed the problem was and why I insisted that the moderators here speak with the engineers to confirm this. Thanks for your reply!
