Hello,
I purchased a Samsung - 65" Class 7 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Tizen TV and a Samsung - 3.1-Channel 340W Soundbar System with 6-1/2" Wireless Subwoofer - Charcoal Black at Best Buy in September 2019. Both have worked fine for years. The soundbar is connected via an HDMI cable through the ARC output on the TV.
Last week the sound bar just quit working. I checked the setup and replaced the HDMI cable. The sound bar still does not work. I installed the optical cable and the sound bar works. I would prefer the HDMI connection.
Is this a common failure in this setup? Any recommendations on how to fix?

Home TheaterAstronaut. I think you are correct. A firmware was pushed out by Samsung with the unanticipated impact which disables the HDMI sound output to the sounder.
I hope Samsung will alert me via email when a firmware fix is pushed out. I have my TV setup for auto updates.
