Kitchen and Family HubIf your microwave turns on by itself after you close the door or it inputs the number 7 randomly you may need to clean the door, check the latch, or ensure that the door is closed all the way.
But if your cooktop lamp will not turn off, then it may just be wet from recent cooking.
- Open the door.
- Use a damp cloth to wipe down the door and microwave.
- Clean the door latch and the latch mechanism on the microwave.
Place a cup of water in the unit and close the door, is it heating?
Power cycle the unit either by unplugging it (if you are able to) or turning it off at the breaker for about 60 seconds.
If you have completed the troubleshooting steps above and the unit is still turning on by itself or inputting 7 service is required. You can shoot me the model code and serial number here for repair set-up: http://bit.ly/2LSliR1

Kitchen and Family Hub
Technician visited this week. The fix is, it will require a new door. Luckily Samsung is going to cover the repair part and labor.

Kitchen and Family HubHa! They will replace the door..... until your warranty runs out. Then you'll be stuck with the 7 button for life. Bought ours in 2017. Had our door replaced twice under warranty. Still pressing its own button.

Kitchen and Family HubI'm having the same issue and have tried everything (cleaning the door lock, turning the power off and flipping the fuse switch) to no avail. After reading many of these I noticed that this is a fire hazard. Unfortunately we bought the appliances and then had delays in building our new home so now it's not under warranty. Although I do feel that since this is a KNOWN FIRE HAZARD issue this should be covered. Please let me know as this "7 error" code is very annoying as it is going off almost very hour now. Thank you.

Kitchen and Family HubHere it is almost 1am and I'm searching how to fix this same problem because the unit had beeped and displayed 7 multiple times tonight. It is occurring more frequently on our model ME21M706BAG. Reading the 40+ pages of threads to this issue, which goes back 3 years and across several models, this is not new. Is there a reasonable solution to this annoying and possibly dangerous problem?

Kitchen and Family HubSamsung service has chalked this issue up as "it happens". If you continue your research you'll find that this exact issue has existed for years and no one who has experienced it has gotten it fixed permanently.

Kitchen and Family HubI think I've finally found a real solution. In my situation, the 7s seem to appear as a result of a weak/loose wire harness connection between the door and microwave. Unplug the microwave and remove the vent grill that's above the microwave. In the upper left corner you'll see a wire connection that connects the door to the microwave. In my case, the connection just floats in mid air and the connection was slightly loose. I pushed the connection tightly together, and tightly wrapped the connection with electrical tape(stretch the tape to wrap tightly) to keep the connection snug. Reinstall the grill. After seeing 7s for almost 1 year, I haven't seen a single 7 since securing the wire connection!
