I saw another post to that says to hold down on the center button. That doesn’t work for me, it just opens the app. When I search for a new app, I don’t see anyway to save it somewhere. Like Spotify, have to search for it every time. Thanks

I didn't find anything in the settings about home screen lock.  However I did figure it out.

In the apps tab there is a string of recently viewed app square Icon's across the screen, near the top.  Then below that a bunch larger rectangle suggested apps.  Then scrolling down father still, there is another row of square apps.  It is this lower row that is editable and can be added to the "For You" tab.  I was trying to add from the recently viewed apps near the top of the page.  I never scrolled down far enough to see this other group of save-able icons.

Go to your settings, home screen, layout, and scroll to "Lock home screen layout". Make sure it's off.
